What is Cynderhost?

CynderHost is a web hosting company based in the United States. In this Cynderhost review, I will dive deep and test their hosting on real websites, do different tests and show you how it goes.

Cynderhost is pretty new, started in April 2020. They provide shared hosting, reseller, and High-Performance hosting.

At the start of 2021 when I first found Cynderhost, they used to provide Minecraft hosting but when I looked recently I think they stopped working on that and now maybe they are focusing more on professional web hosting for websites.

Try for free

Unlike many other web hosting companies that require you to pay upfront for 12 to 36 months to get the best deal, Cynderhost allows you to test their web hosting for free before buying anything. You can create a free account and check if Cynderhost is good for you, no credit card details are required for a free trial.

Free trial is limited to 500 MB of disk space and 1 GB of shared memory. While it’s enough to check out the speed, you have to be quick because this trial is only for 5 days. After 5 days, all of your files will be deleted from their servers.

You can start a free trial from here.

Cynderhost Pricing

Before we talk about Cynderhost performance, let’s talk about pricing!

There are three types of web hosting Cynderhost provides at the moment of writing this post.

  • Shared Hosting
  • Reseller Hosting
  • High-Performance Hosting

Shared Hosting

In shared hosting, you are offered three plans to choose from. Below are some of the common features that are offered in all shared hosting plans.

  • Raid SSD
  • Free SSL (Let’s Encrypt)
  • Automatic Backups
  • DDoS Protection
  • cPanel control panel
  • Server Firewall
  • Cage FS File system
  • Malware Scanning
  • HTTP/2 enabled
  • PHP-FPM (5 to 7)
Cynderhost Features

Some of these features are important to have, such as automatic backups, Raid SDD is a great plus to keep your website fast. But besides these common features, each shared hosting plan offers some other features. Let’s talk about these plans in-depth.

The Basic Plan | Starting at $1.75 Per Month

With the basic plan, you can host up to 3 domains on your hosting. This plan comes with 1CPU and 1Gb of ram. You have 150 GB of bandwidth and 24-hour auto-backups.

The Elite Plan | Starting at $2.99 per Month

When you go with the Elite plan you will get 1.5CPU, 1.8 GB of Ram with 20Gb of storage, and you can host up to 5 domains. You also get more than double the bandwidth compared to the Basic plan which only had 150 GB, with elite you get 500 GB.

That’s pretty decent. Even if you have a medium size website, you will be fine with this plan.

The Unlimited Plan | Starting at $4.99 per Month

If you want to host more than 5 domains or need more resources, then an unlimited plan might be the right choice for you. With 50 GB SSD storage, unlimited domains, and bandwidth. Unlimited plans also give you Advanced Malware Detection and Removal by ImunifyAV and 5 hours auto-backups.

The ram is now 2.3 GB with 2CPU. On an unlimited plan, you are not limited to PHP, but you can also host your Python, NodeJS, and Ruby-based web apps.

Reseller Hosting

Their reseller hosting is also pretty decent, there are four plans available to use from. All of these plans come with free SSL certificates, Unlimited Bandwidth including Softaculous and Jet backups.

Reseller Plans comes with everything almost the same, just the amount of storage and number of users allowed on each plan is different.

High-Performance Hosting

High-performance is Cynderhost’s premium hosting plan. Unlike shared hosting, these plans use Nginx servers, and they are integrated with Stakpath CDN to Scale to 10,000’s of requests in seconds.

They have their caching plugin which integrates well with their hosting plan, a bit similar to what LiteSpeed cache and LiteSpeed server are. If you are looking for fast WordPress hosting, this is a good choice.

They offer 3 plans of High-performance, but if you need more power, you can also talk to them and get a customized plan for your need.

The Basic Plan | Starting at $18.99 Per Month

With Basic Plan, you can use only use one domain and up to 50 GB of bandwidth, but they recommend having around 45K Views/Month. You have the limit of 20 GB, which I think is a bit limited for some websites, but most will do well.

The Pro Plan | Starting at $55.99 Per Month

When you go with the pro plan you can use up to 3 Domains and more than double of storage, you also get 3 times more bandwidth and 160K views/month. This plan is perfect for you if you need to host more than 1 website.

The Ultimate Plan | Starting at $109.99 Per Month

The Ultimate plan looks a bit expensive, but when you have more than 400K Views/Month then your website is doing so much more business than the price of this plan and to keep the site performing well you may need to buy this size of hosting.

Custom | Starting $25 Per Month

Customizing is always a good choice, this way you can make sure you are only paying for what you need and not wasting any money on the things that you don’t need.

Here you can specify the amount of storage, bandwidth, and power you need.

Cynderhost Performance

When buying any web hosting, you must know how their performance is and does the hosting meets your requirements, but it’s time-consuming and a bit hard if you are a blogger or a business owner.

However, I made it simple and clear for you to see if Cynderhost is a good choice for you. I created 2 different websites, both built with WordPress but one using Gutenberg and Blocksy theme while the other one uses Elementor.

I didn’t mean to compare the differences in speed between Elementor and Gutenberg, my goal is just to show you the website speed, I did this because some people prefer Gutenberg while others like Elementor more.

I don’t have a problem with any of these, websites that are created with Elementor are a bit more on page size but again, Elementor is an easy-to-use Page Builder and that’s how it’s supposed to work in my opinion.

There are two main things to consider when buying hosting, Reliability, and Speed. Reliability simply means uptime, you don’t want your website to go down suddenly which will cause you a loss of business and speed is an important factor to rank and create a good user experience, no one likes slow websites!

Other than these two, there is one more important thing to look for, that’s support. I will talk about this one at the end of the post.

Uptime Monitoring

I created a subdomain for uptime monitoring on Cynderhost to check the uptime of Cynderhost servers, I used two different tools to do it.

Uptime Robot

With Uptime Robot, Cynderhost passed this test with 100% of uptime with an average response time of 224.37ms.

FreshPing

While Uptime Robot shows 100% uptime, Freshping showed me a different result. On Freshping it shows a little downtime of 2 mins 29 secs with an average response of 431 ms. total uptime is 99.97% and total downtime is 0.03%.

Speed Test

I used the three most popular tools to check the speed of page loading, I tested three times in total with random times so just to make sure I deliver clear results to you.

All of these tests are without any cache plugin and not any CDN, if you use a CDN and a caching plugin like WP Rocket you will get at least 20-30% difference in google page speed and similar difference on other tools too.

Google Page Speed

I got these results with Elementor Website.

TestMobile ScoreDesktop Score
First4877
Second5376
Third5270
This is tested with Elementor 3.5.1 and WordPress 5.8.2 without any caching and CDN.

These results seem good to me, after all, there’s no cache and no CDN, installing a good cache plugin like WP Rocket and using a CDN will surely make it a 90+ score.

With the Gutenberg website, I got these results

TestMobile ScoreDesktop Score
First7287
Second6984
Third6782
This is tested with Blocksy theme version 1.8.12 and WordPress version 5.8.2

GTMetrix

With Elementor Site I got these Results.

TestGradePerformance %
FirstA96%
SecondA95%
ThirdA98%
This is tested with Elementor 3.5.1 and WordPress 5.8.2 without any caching and CDN.

When using Gutenberg and Blocksy I got these results.

TestGradePerformance %
FirstA97%
SecondA97%
ThirdA97%
This is tested with Blocksy theme version 1.8.12 and WordPress version 5.8.2

Pingdom

I got these Results from the Elementor website.

TestPerformance & GradePage SizeLoad Time
First70 (D Grade)2.0 MB1.24 Sec
Second70 (D Grade)2.0 MB1.22 Sec
Third70 (D Grade)2.0 MB1.14 Sec

These are the results of the Gutenberg website.

TestPerformance & GradePage SizeLoad Time
First70 (D Grade)1.1 MB2.11 Sec
Second70 (D Grade)1.1 MB1.33 Sec
Third70 (D Grade)1.1 MB1.36 Sec

Looking at overall performance, Cynderhost’s shared hosting seems a good hosting for most small and medium-sized business websites. These are good scores without any cache, if you set up the cache on your website, you will probably get much better scores.

Cynderhost Support

While they offer live chat, but it’s only available from 7 AM PST to 11 PM PST and if your time is different you may have a bit of issue with it, so they also offer ticketing which you can use if you have any issues.

In my case, I think joining their discord server is the best way to get a quick response if you don’t get a reply on the ticket and live chat.

You can also try the knowledge base, I think it’s pretty organized and well documented. You will find answers to the most common issues or questions here.

Conclusion

I think Cynderhost is a good hosting platform for starting your website, it’s cheap and fast. You can host small to medium-sized business websites on shared hosting.

Before buying hosting from Cynderhost you need to consider that they don’t offer domain registration, but this is not a big problem.

You can buy a domain from any other registrars and just point the nameservers to Cynderhost’s nameserver, then you are good to go.

  1. I just like the valuable information you provide in your articles.
I will bookmark your weblog and test once more here frequently.

I am quite sure I’ll be told a lot of new stuff right here!
Best of luck for the following!

  2. My developer iis trying to persuade me tto move too .net
from PHP. I have alwsays disliked the idea because of the expenses.
But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using WordPress on numerous websites for about a
year and am anxious about switching to another platform. Is there a way I can traznsfer all my wordpress posts into
it? Any help would be really appreciated!

    • Hey Kyle, sorry for the delay, the platform you said is redirecting to a website related to Cryptocurrency. However I do have some ideas for you, I’m not sure why your developer is trying to get you out of WordPress, In my opinion it’s the best option for Blogs. I think you may not even need a developer with WordPress if you want to save some money. You can start with a free Theme and just make a couple of changes that you can learn from Youtube and there you go, you will have a working Blog of your own within your budget and no worries of another platform.

Let me know if this helps 🙂

  3. Fantastic blog! Do you have any helpful hints for
aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my ownn site
soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you propoose startiing with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There
are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhslmed ..
    Any suggestions?Thanks!

    • Hey Mathew, How are you? sorry for the delay.
I’d suggest you to go with a paid hosting. You may feel why paid when there are free options available. But those free options are only free if you just do whatever is already there, like on WordPress platform you will need to pay $20 per month to install a plugin without paying you can’t even install anything. If you start with that it’ll be very hard for you to move out in future. so I’d say just get a cheap hosting like CynderHost or any other you may like and start your website.

Let me know if this helps 🙂
